GUWAHATI: Nua-Dristi, a bilingual weekly in Bishnupriya Manipuri and Assamese published from Guwahati, gave away its awards to some noted Bishnupriya Manipuri writers and poets at the Gauhati Press Club on June 11. A collection of poems, ‘Anubhab’, by Anjana Sinha, Editor of Nua-Dristi, was also launched at the programme.
The six writers and poets who received the awards are Prof. (Dr.) Smriti Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Pragjyotishpur University, Guwahati; poet-journalist Shibendra Sinha, Silchar; poet-dramatist Shashikanta Sinha, Durlabcherra; poet B. Bijay Sinha, Bikrampur; poet-novelist Chandrakanta Sinha, Durlabcherra; and poet Parimal Sinha, Hailakandi. Each of the six awards comprises a Manipuri khutei, a citation, and Rs 5,000 extended on behalf of Nua-Dristi by Mr. Samarendra Sinha, Shanti Kumar Sinha, Vidyanidhi Sinha, Kashinath Sinha, Brajabidhu Sinha, and Bani Rajkumari.
For the past 33 years, Nua-Dristi has been contributing much to the literary, cultural, and social landscape of the Bishnupriya Manipuris, apart from that of the Assamese.
