GUWAHATI: Indian boxer Jamuna Boro who hails from Assam won a Silver medal at the Elorda Cup 2022 boxing in Kazakhstan.

This event was Jamuna's first international performance after her successful shoulder surgery by Dr Deepak Bhatia.

Dr Deepak N. Bhatia, MS(Orth), DNB(Orth), is a consultant shoulder and upper limb surgeon at leading hospitals in Mumbai. He is also associated with Pratiksha Hospital, Guwahati, Assam.

Trained at leading institutions in Belgium, South Africa and Australia, Dr Deepak Bhatia has a special interest in sports injuries and arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow & wrist.

He is actively involved and well-published in research and academics, and has served as a Co-Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Shoulder Surgery.

He has lectured and performed live surgeries and cadaver surgical demonstrations at national and international shoulder conferences in the Asia-Pacific region.

His research has been awarded the Gary G. Poehling Award in 2017 (Shanghai, China) and 2019 (Cancun, Mexico) for pioneering work on distal biceps anatomy and endoscopy.

He has also won the Young Investigator Research Grant Award in 2016, and ISAKOS Young Investigator Research Mentorship Award in 2015 (Lyon, France).
