GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration on Monday ordered a magisterial enquiry into the death of a prisoner named Manu Das while undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) recently.
The prisoner had died on July 13 at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the GMCH.
The inquiry will be conducted by Assistant Commissioner Hemanta Kumar Dutta and he has been asked to submit his report within 15 days.
Das, a resident of Paltan Bazar here, was lodged at the Guwahati Central Jail since May 22 this year. He was admitted to the GMCH on July 3 after he felt unwell.
