GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway acted upon information and raided five shops/agencies in five different locations during the last few days to check the illegal sale of railway tickets. During these raids from 10th to 12th May 2022, 50 Railway E-Tickets were recovered worth more than Rs 70,000. During the raids, seven persons were also apprehended and prosecuted.

On May 12, in an incident, a joint team of RPF, New Jalpaiguri & Siliguri, conducted a raid at a shop named 'System Solutions' located at DBC Road, Siliguri (West Bengal). Five Railway E-Tickets worth more than Rs 12,000 along with one computer set, one printer & two mobile phones were seized from the shop. The owner of the shop was apprehended and a case was registered at RPF Siliguri outpost, under section 143 of the Railways Act for further proceedings.

Moreover, between the 10th and 12th of May, RPF of NF Railway recovered 45 Railway E-Tickets worth above Rs 59,000 during raids at additional four shops/agencies located at New Alipurduar, Alipurduar, Coochbehar & Tinsukia. During the raid, six persons were apprehended from the shops along with computer accessories and some cash.

RPF of NF Railway, during the last month of April 2022 apprehended nine persons involved in touting activities. Fifty-six Railway E-Tickets were seized from their possession that was worth more than Rs 80,000, a press release said.
