Raj Bhavan, Dispur greet people on Kali Puja and Diwali

Guwahati: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi extended his greeting to the people of Assam on the joyous occasion of Kali Puja and Diwali. The Governor said that may the divine blessings of Maa Kali bring joy and prosperity to the state.

In a message to the people, Prof. Mukhi said, “Diwali the festival of lights is celebrated across the nation for removing all darkness and disparities. It acts as a catalyst for unity and development. Let us on this occasion work together to make Assam cleaner and greener and celebrate pollution free Diwali”.

He also said, “As Diwali symbolises victory of good over evil, let us on this occasion join together to celebrate the triumph of wisdom over ignorance and good over evil”. May this festival of lights be the harbinger of peace, joy and prosperity and dispel all darkness from our state to shed the lights of unity, amity and brotherhood amidst us”. State’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also extended his greetings to the people of the state ahead of the festive occasion of Diwali.

In his message, the Chief Minister said, “The festival of lights signifies the triumph of good over evil and serves to dispel darkness, ignorance and evil from society. Let this celebration strengthen the bond of unity and brotherhood among all communities of the state reinforcing the age-old harmony”. He also urged the people to pledge on the occasion to stand united against all divisive forces and join the efforts in building a prosperous and vibrant Assam. Further stating about the government’s avowed goal of making Assam a pollution-free state, the Chief Minister made a call to the people to make the festival more illuminating yet safe and without any hazardous fallout.

On the occasion of Diwali and Kali Puja, Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has also extended his warm greetings to the people of Assam. In his message, Patowary said, ‘May Diwali light up the mind and spirit of the people and help in driving away all the dark forces of life.’ The Minister further stated, ‘May the divine blessings of Ma Kali shower upon our State with peace, progress and happiness,’ a communiqué said.
