GUWAHATI: The State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department is going to hold the regional livestock and poultry show, 2021 at Khanapara in Guwahati from February 8 to 10, 2021.
Making this public at a press meet here on Thursday, State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora said, "The show is being held so as to woo educated youths of the State towards animal husbandry and livestock for their self-employment. In 2019, this show was organized as a national programme. Due to the corona pandemic this show couldn't be held in 2020. This time around, we're holding it as a regional show.
"In this show, the greatest livestock farmer of the State will be rewarded with Rs 1 lakh. This apart, successful goatry, poultry, piggery, cattle farmers will be rewarded at State and district levels.
"This government has been working for various livestock schemes. By now, the government has completed the reconstruction of 107 veterinary hospital complexes, 50 veterinary hospitals, 78 veterinary sub-centres, four sub-divisional veterinary offices and nine district veterinary offices by spending Rs 117.37 crore.
"This part, the department has approved the goat breeding policy, pig breeding policy and the private investment policy. It has also made arrangements for 11 strategy papers and six SOPs (Standard Operational Procedures)."
