GUWAHATI: With the publication of the third and last list of candidates of the BJP on Sunday, resentment in the party is brewing up in Palasbari and Dispur LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies).

The ruling BJP denied its tickets to Palasbari MLA Pranab Kalita and youthful and strong contender for Dispur LAC Jayanta Das. While the BJP ticket for Palasbari has gone to Hemanga Thakuria, that of Dispur has gone to sitting MLA Atul Bora.

Talking to the media on Monday, BJP's Palasbari MLA Pranab Kalita said, "I've been meted out with injustice by the party. I never expected this from the party. Myself and my supporters in the party are a worried lot.

"I'll fight from Palasbari LAC as an independent candidate. I shall file my nomination papers on March 19. I've a rich vote bank in this constituency."

Talking to the media on Monday, Jayanta Das said, "I've given my entire youth to the BJP. Even after that a few BJP leaders were instrumental in dropping my name.

"In the past five years, MLA Atul Bora scripted a story of failure in Dispur LAC insofar as development is concerned. I'm ready to fight as an independent candidate from Dispur. I'm going to hold a meeting to this effect on Tuesday with my supporters."

Meanwhile, Das has dared Dispur's BJP candidate Atul Bora to spell out his stance on the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). He said that Atul Bora openly opposed the CAA which the BJP is favouring.
