SBI promotes sustainable development through street play in Guwahati

 GUWAHATI: In order to promote sustainability and to reduce plastic usage, students of Swahid Kanaklata Girls' hostel of Cotton University, Guwahati performed a street drama at Beltola Sunday Bazar.

The programme was supported by State Bank of India. The drama titled Swachhatar Sankalpa was written by Bhaswarita Dutta and directed by Liza Bora and Nayana Bora. The drama was performed by Bidisha Bora, Urja Das, Bhaswati Das, Devashree Deb Nath, Disha Hazarika, Ashiya Begum, Pinki Shah, Anushka Dutta and Tina Karki. The drama highlighted how plastic litter has polluted the environment causing health issues to the urban population.

Dr Debojyoti Dutta, Assistant General Manager of SBI while speaking on the occasion, requested the public to reduce usage of polythene bags and to carry shopping bags made of jute or clothes while going for shopping. In order to encourage the people carrying shopping bags, gifts were distributed to them and jute bags were distributed to the others not carrying shopping bags to the market, stated a press release.
