Sachetan Nagarik Mancha Axom(SNMA) Submits Memorandum to President on Post-poll Violence in West Bengal
Sachetan Nagarik Mancha, Axom (SNMA) has submitted a memorandum to the President of India seeking the use of constitutional power to ensure healthy democratic system in West Bengal and also to provide security to the people affected in post election violence.
GUWAHATI: Sachetan Nagarik Mancha, Axom (SNMA) has submitted a memorandum to the President of India seeking the use of constitutional power to ensure healthy democratic system in West Bengal and also to provide security to the people affected in post election violence. In the memorandum, Mancha's President Chandan Bhattacharjya said, "At a time when the whole world is fighting the corona pandemic maintaining social distances crowed people are entering Assam in large number to save their life. This is a threat to Indian democracy, integrity, national unity and the constitutive." "These incidents prove that the newly elected government of West Bengal, instead of maintaining low &order situation, instigating the miscreants by maintaining silence. We strongly oppose condemn such inhuman planned attack on the Hindu people, he added.
This memorandum by SNMA further stated that after the West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 innocent persons/citizens have lost lives and thousand others have been injured/victim of planned attack. In these incidents of violence 23 persons lost their lives, more than 4 women were victim of rape and 39 women have received rape threat, 2157 people have been attacked, 692 people have got death threat. Further, properties of 3886 families have been damaged and more than 70,000 people belonged to 3000 villages have been victims of attacked. "People belonged to different ideology, especially economically backward schedule caste people have been the main target of attack. As of now 6778 affected people are taking shelter in 191 shelter camps," Mancha's secretary Atul Barman said.
