South Point School Guwahati celebrates NCC Day, Lachit Divas

GUWAHATI: National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets of South Point School, Guwahati celebrated NCC Day and the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan recently at the school premises with a cultural programme and a presentation of the activities and achievements of the school boys' and girls' units.

Senior NCC officials of the State were present on the occasion. Indian Navy also participated in the celebrations and presented the career prospects on joining the Indian Navy in an interaction with cadets, stated a press release.

The programme commenced with the unfurling of NCC flag and presentation of guard of honour to esteemed guests. A 15-member Sea Riders, the famed Navy biker group of serving naval officers, was also flagged off on their 25-day expedition of the Northeastern States from the school premises virtually by the Chief of Naval Staff from Delhi, after their introduction and felicitation by the school principal. Refreshment for all participants of the programme was arranged by the school.
