Truck Driver Arrested with Drugs in Guwahati
During a joint operation conducted by Guwahati Crime Branch and Basishta Police, a truck driver was arrested with 11.7 gm brown sugar here on Wednesday.

GUWAHATI: During a joint operation conducted by Guwahati Crime Branch and Basishta Police, a truck driver was arrested with 11.7 gm brown sugar here on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, a search operation was conducted at Lalmati under Basistha Police Station where a truck bearing registration number — AS 25 EC 1175 was intercepted. During the search, the drugs concealed in a soap case were recovered.
The accused driver — Bipin Deka (22) was staying in the Bhetapara area and is a native of Sipajhar. He stated that he carried the drugs from Manipur and was planning to sell it in Guwahati. The police have also seized Rs 20,000 cash from his possession.
