GUWAHATI: In a twist to the killing of an elderly landlord allegedly by his tenant in Guwahati, the deceased's family members accused the son of the tenant who claimed to have killed the landlord.

The deceased landlord, Hemdhar Baruah's family suspected that the son of Dharanidhar Deka, who claimed to have killed Baruah, was responsible for the crime. However, Deka and his wife, who surrendered before the police, refuted the charges.

According to Baruah's family members, Deka's son is a drug addict and has "possibly killed the 75-year-old Hemdhar Baruah under addiction and the parents were trying to shield him and taken the blame upon themselves".

Deka, while being taken to court, claimed, "This is a false allegation. My son is not a drug addict. He has nothing to do with it. I and my wife killed Baruah as he was misbehaving with my wife."
