Urbashi Murder Case: Woman Arrested From Mariani

GUWAHATI: The Satgaon police arrested yet another accused in the Urbashi murder case, Suchitra Duara (42), from Mariani on Saturday night.

Brought to Guwahati from Mariani, Suchitra is being grilled at Satgaon police station. With her, the total arrest in connection with the Urbashi murder case has risen to five. Urbashi has been sent to three-day police remand. According to police sources, Suchitra admitted before the police that she had been promised to be paid Rs 50,000 for killing Urbashi. She, however, has not received the amount.

On the night July 2, 2019 a six-member gang comprising both men and women attacked Urbashi Koiborta with sharp weapons at her Shibangini Path residence in the Botaghulu area in the Panbajari area. Urbashi’s daughter Sthapona Koiborto also sustained injuries. She is under treatment in a hospital where her mother succumbed to the injuries.
