GUWAHATI: In a heartening piece of news for the scouting fraternity of Assam, veteran scout master RA Lazar has been appointed as ALT (Assistant Leader Trainer) to train the adult unit leaders of the Bharat Scouts and Guides.

In an official letter addressed to the State Secretary of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Assam State Headquarters, Guwahati from Krishnaswamy R, Executive Director, I/c DDSLT (Deputy Director, Scout Leader Trainer), Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Training Centre, Pachmarhi, the appointment was confirmed till 2025.

A highly decorated scout master with over four decades of experience with scouts, he has led the Don Bosco School Scout Troup to various national as well as international scout camps. Having joined the scouting movement as a young trainer in January 1980, he joined the Don Bosco School, Panabazar, Guwahati in 1987 as a scout master and PT teacher, a post that he had held till his retirement in 2018. Since his retirement, he was reinstated as a scout master of Don Bosco schools under Guwahati Province, including Don Bosco School, Panbazar. Recently, the Don Bosco Scout Troup had won the prestigious Lakshmi Mazumdar award 2019-2020 in New Delhi under his leadership.
