Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Books Former Secretary of Sankardev Kalakshetra on Corruption Charges

Guwahati: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (V&AC) on Thursday arrested the former secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Sabin Rajkhowa on charges of corruption and misappropriating of funds.

Rajkhowa was arrested for misappropriation of funds during the tenure of Tarun Gogoi led Congress Government. As per a report misappropriation of the funds was around Rs 1.10 crore. Rajkhowa has been produced before the court today.

It may be mentioned that both Rajkhowa along with the assistant accountant of Kalakshetra was also booked under several sections of the IPC.

As per the complaint filed by the V&AC, Rajkhowa has been involved in misappropriation of funds of above Rs 1 crore.

These funds were allotted by Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) to Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra for organizing Indigenous Folk Theatre Festival.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was filed against Rajkhowa by the V&AC in July 2017.
