GUWAHATI: A wild male buffalo entered the Kharguli area here on Wednesday morning by crossing the river Brahmaputra and strayed on to the JWIL Water Project campus.

A team of the Narengi Forest Beat under the Guwahati Range immediately rushed to the spot along with a team of veterinarians from the Assam State Zoo.

The veterinary team tranquillized the animal at around 2.50 pm. However, during the waiting period the animal moved to an inaccessible area due to which the translocation could not be performed today. The animal is now taking shelter in a jungle on the bank of the Brahmaputra and is under the observation of the forest staff.
