tiol Congress Party (NCP) candidate from Williamgar constituency Jothone Nengminza Sangma died in an IED explosion which occurred at around 7.50 pm in Samanda Block, as reported.
According to reports, along with Jothone, 3 more were killed in the blast including his Persol Security Officer (PSO) who were in a Scorpio and returning after campaign from Sawilgre village.
Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma tweeted on the incident “Deeply saddened to hear about the unexpected loss of Jothone N Sangma. My heartfelt condolences to his near and dear ones. The blood of innocents spilled by the enemies of the State will not disturb the peace in Meghalaya.”
