New Delhi: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today has prohibited eight youtube channels inclusive of one from Pakistan for spreading misrepresentations about India's public order, homeland security and foreign affairs.

The Ministry has forbidden seven Indian and one based in Pakistan you tube channels on grounds of IT Rules, 2021. As per ANI reports, the restricted channels had a number of views higher than 114 crore and over 85,73,000 subscribers.

It has also been disclosed that the topics included in the inaccurate anti-India content had been monetized by the prohibited channels. Prior to this, the Ministry on April 25 had banned ten Indian channels on you tube and six channels placed in Pakistan for the same.

It said the channels were also used to post fake news on various subjects such as the Indian armed forces, Jammu and Kashmir, etc.

"The content was observed to be completely false and sensitive from the perspective of national security and India's friendly relations with foreign states," the government said.

Earlier in February, the Indian Government banned VLC Media Player, a prominent media player software to keep away from cyberattacks hacking group based in China. As per reports, the ban had been commenced on February 13 this year which neither the company nor the government disclosed anything at the time of effect as many of the users had remained unaware of it.

As per the investigators of cyber-security at Symantec, the Cicada victims, a hacking group supposedly backed by the Government of China have been found in India, Hong Kong, Israel, Canada, the US and various other countries.

There has been found many sharp escalation in fraud cases related to cyber-security attack right from the beginning of this year. More than 670,000 cases were listed in the country continuing till June, said Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra while answering the queries put forward in Lok Sabha. Over 3,700 cyber-security attacks have been filed in India, causing the country to turn out to be the third most affected by network attacks across the globe.
