New Delhi: In a bid to evacuate Indians from the war-hit Ukraine, the Indian government is running 'Operation Ganga' and during this some interesting stories are also appearing. One such story is of an Indian doctor named Dr Girikumar Patil, who has refused to leave Ukraine without his two pet big cats - a panther and Jaguar.

According to reports, Patil is living in a bunker below his home in Severodonetsk, in the Donbas region which is controlled by separatists. However, the situation in the region is deteriorating day by day. But Dr Patil is not ready to leave the animals behind.

According to the media report, Dr. Girikumar Patil, who has been living in Ukraine since 2007, is also a YouTuber and an influence. He is from originally from Andhra Pradesh and came to Ukraine with a motive of pursuing MBBS.

''I completed my course in 2014. From the year 2019, I wanted to have big cats like Bengal Tiger. Now, I have some big cats,'' he was quoted by media reports as saying.

Interestingly, Dr. Patil is also known as Jaguar Kumar in Ukraine.

According to him the jaguar is actually a crossbreed between a leopard and a black jaguar and is very rare. The Jaguar is 20 months old while the Black Panther is six months old.

He said that for him these are not pets and don't treat them like pets but treat them like his children. Asked, if he had spoken to the authorities about taking his pet along to which he replied that he called the embassy but did not get a proper response.

Patil is not the only one who has refused to leave his pet in Ukraine. There have been some reports of the same in the past as well.
