According to the official information received by the Assam state government, around 222 residents of Assam were stranded in Ukraine since the start of the Russian attack.

GUWAHATI: Two more students hailing from Guwahati, Ashok Kumar Sinha and Bhishekh Raj Borgohain, have been evacuated from Ukraine by the Indian government as part 'Operation Ganga'.

With this, the current toll of resued students from the war-worn country comes up to 85 as of date.

Taking to his Twitter handle Assam Chief Minister wrote, "students hailing from Guwahati, Ashok Kumar Sinha and Bhishekh Raj Borgohain, have been evacuated from Ukraine by @MEAIndia as part of #OpGanga."

On March 3, 59 students from the state studying in Ukraine have been evacuated by the MEA, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a tweet.

Since Wednesday, 27 students of the state have reached New Delhi and were received by officials of the Assam government at the airport.

According to the official information received by the Assam state government, around 222 residents of Assam, mostly students, were stranded in Ukraine since the start of the Russian attack.

Notably, the Kamrup District Administration's officials on Tuesday met the parents of 10 students from the district who are stranded in Ukraine.

These stranded students identified as Sahil Anowar, Arif Mahifuz Siddique, Jakaria Atikjur Rahman Hussain, Faruque Abdulla, Hasanul Islam, Akib Mustab Ahmed, Akhtar Mustab Ahmed, Akhtar Ali, Shahid Iqbal Sharif, Himjyoti Talukdar and Ankur Jyoti Thakuria.

Till Tuesday, 32 students have already reached their homes in the state.

Between late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, 27 more students arrived in New Delhi on four different flights.

All the students have been taken to the Assam House where they will stay till their air travel to Guwahati is arranged by state government officials.
