Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader became emotional during a speech at a military parade. As he thanked the troops for their various sacrifices, he apologised to the citizens for not being able to improve their lives.

As he addressed the audience in the 75th anniversary of the founding of Workers' Party, Kim thanked the troops for responding to the recent testing times, and for helping to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Kim is grateful that not a single person in North Korea was infected by the virus, although they were much doubted by the US and South Korean officials. While delivering the speech, he appeared a bit tearful.

Kim said, "My efforts and sincerity have not been sufficient enough to rid our people of the difficulties in their life." But he is grateful that the people have always trusted him and supported his choice and determination.

In an effort to prevent the outbreak in the country, North Korea shut down nearly all the border traffic. This added to its economy, which is already restricted by international sanctions imposed over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes.

Kim wished that its neighbouring country, South Korea "hold hands" after the pandemic is over. However, it was a mixed-signal as Kim unveiled a new multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). He also unveiled fast, manoeuvrable short-range missiles, which are ideal for striking targets in the South.
