SHILLONG: The 'Teer' bussines, a legal form of archery gambling in Meghalaya, with its outreach to the neighbouring States has come to a grinding halt following lockdown.

No archery has been carried out for the past 40 days. As a result, approximately 50 archers are now jobless.

"This is our trade through which we sustain our livelihood and also ensure that many others also get their earnings, stated one of the functionaries of the association involved in the archery game. While some of the teer archers have taken to other businesses, the Teer counter owners are in dire straits. Besides, they are not part of any registered group as envisaged by the government.
