Thai Menu, 48 Varieties of Momos and More Than 45 Types of Rice and Noodles to Entice Foodies in New Outlet in City

The fast burgeoning foodscape of Guwahati city seems to have received yet another shot in the arm with the recent launch of popular restaurant chain, Fat Belly's, third outlet in the Commerce College area of the city. The third restaurant under the Fat Belly franchise, the restaurant is located in the basement of a building right opposite Commerce College. The other two Fat Belly restaurants of Guwahati are located in Dighalipukhuri and Uzan Bazaar.

Fat Belly is not just the story of a successful business venture. It is also the success story of two first generation Assamese entrepreneurs. The Fat Belly franchise is the brainchild of DhirajDeka and ParixitBhattacharjee - two engineers-turned-entrepreneurs, who were earlier working with top multi-national companies in Mumbai and Goa.

The engineer duo had left the corporate world and come back to Guwahati to start their own food business early last year. "We are very happy with the response that we have got from food lovers of Guwahati and this is the reason which forced us to come up with our third restaurant. With this, we are enriching the dining experience of Guwahati city, keeping in mind the desires of people opting for quick-bites as well as lunch and dinner spreads. The new location is an added benefit for us as it will help us to enhance our free home delivery service system, enabling us to deliver to homes across entire Guwahati now," said DhirajDeka, one of the co-founders of the restaurant chain.

This new restaurant, near Gauhati Commerce College, is the biggest among all the three properties with a seating space for around 75 guests. While Fat Belly is already a popular name amongst foodies for their special varieties of momos, the restaurant chain has now added Thai cuisine to their menu. Fat Belly offers 48 varieties of momo besides lip-smacking starters, main course and combos - available both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. So next time you get that insatiable craving for momos, you know where you should be headed to!

The Thai menu of Fat Belly is also something to look out. With Thai cuisine becoming much popular amongst food lovers of the city, the restaurant offers a wonderful variety of authentic Thai cuisine served to perfection. Talking about the Thai menu, co-founder ParixitBhattacharjee said, "We wanted to give variety to our guests. The Thai menu at Fat Belly is beautifully curated by our chef to provide value for money and a unique Thai experience. Besides starters and a variety of rice and noodles, our special range of Thai curries will surely excite the food lovers."

Beginning their journey as food entrepreneurs, Dhiraj and Parixit started Fat Belly restaurant at Dighalipukhuri in March 2017. Offering innovative varieties of Pan Asian cuisine experience, the engineer duo, along with their third partner ManjitaKalita Chowdhury opened the second outlet of Fat Belly at Uzan Bazaar with a bigger and better space in November last year.

"We are happy that with time we are able to offer a better experience to our guests. Our varieties of momo are the talk of the town. With added space, we are now ready to offer even better hospitality to our guests," said ManjitaKalita Chowdhury who brings in 15 years of experience in the catering space.

Strengthening the team, Aditya Bhattacharjee joined the Fat Belly team for the Commerce College outlet. Aditya brings along a rich experience from the IT and banking sector.

The story behind Fat Belly is, in itself, an exciting one. HSLC rank holder Dhiraj went on to study engineering at Assam Engineering College in Guwahati where he met Parixit. After their engineering, they joined top multi-national companies in Mumbai and Goa. It was a dream for them to come back to Guwahati and venture into the food sector - thereby giving birth to Fat Belly.

Fat Belly specializes in varieties of Indo-Chinese starters and main course items - both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. It offers 44 types of rice and 52 types of noodles from both Oriental and Thai cuisines. In the main course, the restaurant boasts of various paneer, chicken, fish, pork and prawn items.
