THE BASEMENT VAASTU

THE BASEMENT VAASTU

Basements have become a necessity in multi-storeyed buildings, shopping complexes, etc. In India, residential houses are generally not provided with basements due to lack of humidity and temperature control. Nonstop temperature control must be there for basement provided to residences.

According to vaastu, the basement should not be provided to the entire building area. The Northeast, North and East are the best areas to have the basement than the Southwest, South and West. The entry to the basement should be provided from the Eastern Northeast, Northern Northeast, Southern Southeast and Western Northwest only. If a basement has been provided by mistake at the Southwest, then this area should be used for storing heavy materials or a garage.

A typical basement should not be more than ten to twelve feet deep and some part of it should be above the ground level so that natural light and air can get inside.

The basement should be painted white, light cream or light pink. Dark colours should be avoided at basement.

If the basement is used for Yoga or exercise room, same should be done facing the East or North only. The Southwest part of the basement of business premises should be used to keep heavy items. The air conditioning plant, exhaust fan etc should be provided at the Southeast corner.

GIFTS

Gifts improve relationship. Almost everyone likes to get something as a gift. Sometimes, a gift is given to honour somebody for which the price or cost becomes immaterial. In marriages or during felicitation, some gifts are given which shows the love, respect and affection the person.

But it does not always turn out in the positive way. Some gifts may bring in negativity rather than positive vibes. It is also true for the one who presents the gift. Certain items should not be gifted while some are extremely lucky. Let us see the Vaastu implications for the same.

It is very auspicious to receive a pair of elephants as gifts. Ideally, elephants made of gold or silver are best. But those made of bronze/brass or wood are also equally good. They should be kept at the South of the living room. The wooden ones can also be placed on both sides of the main door. Feng Shui experts believe that elephants with their trunks upwards are luckier. The gold/brass/bronze elephant is said to bring stability and prosperity in the life. It brings name fame and recognition in the area of your work.

Certain gifts are considered as personalized items and they should NOT be given to others as gifts. Items of inner wear, towels and handkerchiefs are among them. It is believed that there may be quarrels if these items are given as gifts. But there is a custom of attaching a metallic safety pin in handkerchiefs which is supposed to negate the bad effect!!

Watches and clock show time. These are not considered as good gifts as they measure the time of the person! Clocks are a symbol of putting a time on the relationship between the receiver and giver. So gifts like alarm clocks, wall clocks, watches etc. look like very common gift items, but they can turn out to be inauspicious because of passing of time.

Sharp and edgy objects emit Shar Chi (poison arrows) according to Feng Shui. It may bring bad luck for the person receiving the same. It is an indicator that the object might cut into the relation. This also includes nail cutters, bottle openers and needle box.. If someone gives you any sharp object as a gift and you do not want to reject him/her, give a metallic coin in return (even one rupee will do) symbolizing that you have purchased the same.

Any sort of thorny plants like cactus should not be presented as a gift. This indicates bad Feng Shui in the relationship. If you are presenting a bunch of roses to someone, make sure to get all the thorns removed before getting the bouquet made. Thorns again represent cutting and piercing through the relationship.

Earthen showpieces, according to Vaastu, of earth element can remove obstacles in life and increases money. So gift any showpiece made of this material. Your gifts can include beautiful diyas (oil lamp), flower vase, lamps or piggy banks.

USE OF RED CHILLI

Dried red chilli is a popular spice in India. Ladies use it to ward off “évil eye” from small children.

Very few people are aware of the fact that Red Chilli can be used as a remedial measure for Vaastu defects. In fact, red chillis can open up the door of luck for you.
