Karisma Kapoor To Flaunt Assam's Mekhela Chador At LMIFW 2019 - Read Details

Actor Karisma Kapoor will walk at the Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week (LMIFW) in a Mekhela chador, a traditional Assamese attire when she turns showstopper for designer Sanjukta Dutta here. Dutta will showcase her new assortment ‘Morom’ -- that means Love in Assamese -- at the forthcoming fashion gala, organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) on March 14. It's galvanized with flowers and butterfly.


“I am extremely looking forward to walking for Sanjukta Dutta at the upcoming show in Delhi. This may promote handlooms and also the stunning Mekhela chador. I'm extremely looking forward to that,” Karisma Kapoor said in a very statement.

The designer said the collection is specially designed for the modern woman of today in hand-crafted Assamese silk, woven by the weavers of Assam. “It’s a collection by women for women. Morom includes designs that fantastically amalgamate the tradition of Assam with trendy silhouettes,” Dutta said.

At the Lotus Makeup India, Fashion Week’s (LMIFW) forthcoming edition actress Rakul Preet Singh will turn showstopper for designer Julie Shah. Julie Shah will showcase her new collection ‘The High Noon Affair’ on March 14 at the gala, organized by the Fashion Design Council of India.

“I am extremely excited to be walking for designer Julie Shah at LMIFW. Her collection is very modern and in perfect sync with my style,” Rakul said in a statement. The designer said that her new collection derives inspiration from the blooming tree of peony flowers, capturing its abstract beauty and varied textures.

“The subtle creases in each flower petal has been fantastically showcased by finely interweaving at intervals the bedded foliage, creating manifold striped patterns and illusions”, said Shah. On her showstopper, Shah said: “Rakul is so stunning and is so fit. She would make our gown look glamorous, making for a perfect choice.”
