MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor passed away today at the age of 58. According to reports, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest, following which he was rushed to the hospital. Rajiv was the youngest son of the legendary late actor-producer Raj Kapoor, and the younger brother of late Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor.

As per reports, he was rushed to the Inlaks Hospital in Chembur by his brother Randhir Kapoor. The doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Actress Neetu Kapoor, Rajiv's sister-in-law and Rishi Kapoor's wife expressed her condolences and shared a post on social media along with a picture of the late actor.

Rajiv Kapoor marked his debut with the 1983 film Ek Jaan Hain Hum. But it was his performance in the 1985 Raj Kapoor directed film 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' that put him on the map. He starred opposite Mandakini in the film.

His most notable films include Aasmaan (1984), Lover Boy (1985), Zabardast (1985) and Hum Toh Chale Pardes (1988).

His last appeared in the 1990 film Zimmedaar after which he changed gears and turned towards producing and directing films. He was the director of 'Prem Granth' (1996) which starred Rishi Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles.

The late actor had produced film 'Henna' in 1991 starring his late brother Rishi Kapoor. He also produced film 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen', with Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. It was directed by late Rishi Kapoor.

He was reportedly set to return to movies after a hiatus of 28 years with Ashutosh Gowariker's sports drama Toolsidas Junior. The film was announced in December 2020 with Sanjay Dutt in the lead role.

Rajiv's brother Rishi Kapoor passed away last year in April. He died on April 30 after a two-year battle against cancer. Rajiv's sister, Ritu Nanda, died in January 2020.
