MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, following emergency surgery after being stabbed multiple times during a robbery attempt at his Bandra residence. His wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, was present at the hospital for his discharge, accompanied by security and police personnel.

The incident occurred on January 16, 2025, at around 2:15 AM, when an intruder attacked the household staff before Saif intervened to protect his family. Saif sustained six stab wounds, two of which were serious as they were near his spine. Emergency surgery was performed to remove a knife fragment lodged in his back and prevent spinal fluid leakage. Doctors have reported that Saif is stable but have advised him to rest for a full recovery.

The Mumbai Police identified the attacker as Mohammed Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national and former national-level wrestling champion who had entered India illegally. Shehzad was apprehended in Thane shortly after the incident.

Hospital authorities later released an image of the 3-inch-long knife fragment removed during surgery. Kareena Kapoor Khan had arrived at the hospital earlier on January 21, accompanied by heavy security, as Saif’s discharge papers had been prepared the previous night.

The incident has raised concerns about safety and security, with fans expressing relief over Saif’s recovery and praising his bravery in defending his family during the attack.
