Guwahati: What can be more amazing than this to hear that a parrot outsmarted technologies to order goodies for itself through online marketing portals. Not fantasy but a fact that a parrot, not only mimicked his owner’s voice but also placed an order for a range of goodies at the e-commerce portal Amazon through the Amazon Alexa device of his owner.
This amazing parrot is an African grey parrot, named Rocco, who seeing his owner’s shopping habits, followed his owner and placed an order for a number of goodies right ahead of the Christmas.
As reported to the media by its owner Marion Wischnewski, Rocco ordered for its favourite snacks that also included watermelons, raisins, broccoli and ice cream. What is funnier is that the parrot even ordered for a light bulb and a kite as well.
As the African grey parrots are known for their ability to mimic speech, it was not a tough job for Rocco to mimic its owner, but what is more astonishing is that how it could master the trick of operating the voice commanding Alexa and place orders in Amazon.
Wischnewski said that it was a matter of shock for her to realize that the person placing orders in Amazon is no one else but her dear pet Rocco. She added, "I have to check the shopping list when I come in from work and cancel all the items he's ordered."
Adding more to Rocco’s life history, its owner said that Rocco was re-homed from the National Animal Welfare Trust sanctuary in Berkshire and the reason is its foul language. However, Marion Wischnewski volunteered to foster him and brought the parrot to her home in Oxfordshire.
However, whatever is the issue with Rocco, for Wischnewski her parrot is the sweetest. She told, "I've come home before and he has romantic music playing. He loves to dance and has the sweetest personality."
Well, this instance of Rocco placing an order online and doubling up its owner’s job is really rare and cute which is thoroughly enjoyed by its owner.
