Pune: Some people have utilized their creativity to the fullest during the covid-19 pandemic. We have witnessed things which were never seen before and ones which seemed beyond our imagination.
It was no different in the wedding sector as well. A Pune based couple had different ideas, ideas which would certainly amaze us or at the least, surprise us.
The Marathi couple decided to tie the knot via blockchain technology from the OpenSea platform. It is interesting to note that this unconventional wedding happened to be India's first 'blockchain wedding'. It certainly sounds like a 'New Age' wedding.
Anil Narasipuram and Shruti Nair had a court marriage in November last year. The couple decided to hold a 'Blockchain wedding' in order to cement their togetherness in digital fashion.
As far as the rituals are concerned, 'Digital priest' Anoop Pakki mined an NFT on OpenSea platform and put it forth to the couple. This was done through an 'Ethereum smart contract'.
"On Nov 15, 2021, Shruti Nair and I got married! Given the era of Covid that we live in, we decided to keep it small with a courthouse wedding, also known as a 'Registered Marriage' in India. We also decided to immortalize our union using blockchain technology...." the post by Anil read.
The couple read their wedding vows ,"We won't make any big promises, but we will do everything we can to make this work. Through all our disagreement and conflict, we hope to grow our understanding of each other and ourselves. We don't expect to be the whole village for each other, but we will be by each other's side, hand in hand, walking through this adventure, together."
The duration of the wedding was for a very short period of time with the blockchain ceremony concluding at just 15 minutes. It indeed is very short as compared to the conventional Indian wedding, which could sometimes last for days.
Anil took to his LinkedIn profile to say that the transaction is a permanent, immutable and public record of their commitment to each other on the ETH blockchain.
Earlier, a Tamil couple chose to wed in Metaverse. A couple hailing from West Bengal had decided to hold a digital wedding in Google Meet.
