Agra: Before the world celebrates Valentine's day on February 14 a bizarre 'circular' attributed to St John's College of Agra in Uttar Pradesh asking girls to mandatorily have at least one boyfriend before Valentine's Day (February 14) went viral on social media.

The circular dated January 14 reads: "It is mandatory for all girls to have at least one boyfriend by February 14. This has been done for security purposes. Single girls will not be allowed to enter the college premises. They'll have to show a recent picture with their boyfriend. Spread love."

The letter had its official formal logo, a digital signature of a professor named Ashish Sharma, associate dean-academics affairs at the bottom.


According to reports, the circular created a chaotic situation among girl students. Some even brought it to the notice of their parents. Following which they verified the circular with college authorities while the college authorities denied having issued any such directives.

Moreover, the principal of the college, Prof S.P. Singh said that the circular was fake and added that no such directives were issued by the college.

He further stated that the intentions seem to tarnish the good name and reputation of the college, and action will be taken against those responsible.

Speaking to the media the professor Singh quoted as "It has come to our notice that some mischievous elements have been circulating a message wrongfully attributing it to college authorities. Such acts are unlawful and unauthorized and the responsible will face action."

The students have been asked to ignore such unauthorized information.

They have informed the Hari Parvat police station to investigate the matter and take action against the guilty.

St John's College of Agra is the oldest educational institution was established in 1850 by the Church Missionary Society of England through the efforts of the Agra C.M.S. Association which came into being in 1840.
