Case of Extortion Registered Against 13-Year-Old Minor in Hyderabad

NEW DELHI: In a bizarre incident, a case of extortion has been registered in the Banjara Hills Police Station of Hyderabad against a 13-year-old minor boy.

The boy is accused of allegedly forcing, blackmailing, and threatening his classmate to steal an amount of five lakh from his house.

The father of the boy's classmate found that the cash he had kept in the almirah of his house are missing. He looked for the missing money and on being unable to find it he questioned his family members regarding the missing cash. When he asked his son strictly about the money the son revealed that he had stolen the money from the almirah and handed it over to his 13-year-old classmate.

On learning the truth, the boy's father immediately went to the police station to recover the stolen money and filed a complaint against the classmate of his son. The case of extortion was then registered against the 13-year-old boy. 

A police officer from Banjara Hills Police Station said to sources that the boy told the truth to his father as the 13-year-old boy, the juvenile offender forcefully took over the books of his classmate while they were at school and blackmailed him that he will return the books only in one condition if he can steal money from his house.

The father of the boy said that the accused juvenile offender not just forced his son for stealing money but also threatened to torture, beat and harm him if he is not successful in stealing money for his house.

The 13-year-old juvenile offender was later thoroughly examined in the child's welfare department in the presence of his family members. It was disclosed after the investigation that the boy gave the stolen 5 lakh amount to his mother and maternal uncle.
