New Delhi: One army jawan was killed during the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Line of Control (LOC), Rajouri district of Jammu & Kashmir.

The firing led to severe injuries of Havaldar Patil Sangram Shivaji, who died later, said an official.

The unprovoked firing across the border happened in Lam area of Nowshera sector.

This firing was met by strong retaliation by the Indian Army and is said to have continued from both sides for some time.

The recent ceasefire violation has happened a week after four civilians were killed and several others were injured after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations on multiple sectors along LOC in Jammu & Kashmir.

India had conducted retaliatory punitive fire assaults against posts, bunkers and fuel dumps across the LOC in Kashmir after a day of the unprovoked ceasefire.

Six to seven Pakistani soldiers were reported to be killed and several others injured.

Five Indian soldiers and four civilians, including a woman had lost their lives in the heavy exchange of cross-border firing.
