Coronavirus threat: Three people in Delhi kept under observation  at  RML  Hospital in Delhi

DELHI: Three people in Delhi have been quarantined after showing coronavirus like flu symptoms such as cold, cough and respiratory problems.

According to reports, the three patients had all returned from China.

Until Monday, a total of 33,552 passengers arriving in India from China in 155 flights have been screened.

As of now, no positive cases have been detected, according to the Union Health Ministry.

A girl from Bihar and a doctor in Rajasthan, who also returned from China, were isolated after showing symptoms.

Assam has sounded an alert to prevent the spreading of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The State Health Department is maintaining a close watch over the situation and holding discussions with the Airports Authority of India to check passengers’ travel history at the entry and exit points of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport at Borjhar to identify any possible carrier of the virus.

A surveillance team is already working to take the necessary steps. The Health Department has made arrangements to isolate patients infected with the novel coronavirus.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said there is no need to panic or fear about the Novel Coronavirus (CoV) disease for the people in India.

Speaking to IANS, AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria had said: “Mortality due to Novel Coronavirus may not be high but we still need to be vigilant because we don’t want it to spread rapidly here. The important issue here is to have good control to prevent the infection from spreading.”

“So if there is a suspected person he must be isolated. Good infection control measures should be taken and you should try to prevent human to human spread so that the infection doesn’t spread to the community and, therefore, leads to an outbreak,” he said.
