One of the most-talented actors of this generation, Ranveer Singh marked his presence felt in Bollywood along with his debut film Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). He became a instant favourite with critics and fans alike. Ever since then, Ranveer had delivered some compelling performances together with films like Lootera, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and plenty of a lot. However, not heaps of individuals know that Ranveer never wanted to be an actor growing up, rather he wanted to be a professional sportsman.

According to a report from the media, as a child Ranveer Singh wanted to become a professional cricketer and had tried his luck at the metropolis Bombay Gymkhana Club. But after checking his game move into the nets, ex-Indian 1983 tourney winning cricketer, Mohinder Amarnath, who was the coach at the time, had rejected him from taking part in.

However, on reflection, Ranveer should to be thankful that he never made it massive in cricket, else we might never have got an actor as proficient as him in India cinema. And while Ranveer didn’t get to play the sport for the country, he will get to play it on the big-screen. For those of you still unaware, Ranveer Singh will be seen playing former Indian cricket captain, who was also captain of the 1983 world cup winning team, Kapil Dev.

Tentatively titled eighty three, the film can showcase Kapil’s journey to captaincy and also the Indian teams’ road to the 1983 World Cup victory and also the challenges they had on the way. The film is still in production and will hit theatres in 2020. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is all set for the release of his upcoming film Simmba – a Rohit Shetty directorial venture which also stars Sara Ali Khan. Simmba will release on December 28.
