NEW DELHI: As part of the International Day for Monuments and Sites being observed all over the world on April 18, the entry to all ASI-protected monuments throughout India will be free.
This program is designed to encourage citizens to discover and reconnect with India's rich cultural heritage.
With 3,698 monuments and sites in its custody, ASI provides this unique opportunity to enjoy the country's historical treasures and architectural marvels.
The theme for this year's International Day for Monuments and Sites is "Heritage under Threat from Disaster and Conflicts," emphasizing the need to safeguard cultural heritage from natural disasters, human-made dangers, and conflicts immediately.
By waiving the entry charge, ASI hopes to generate more public interest in the conservation and preservation of India's built heritage. It also hopes to raise consciousness regarding how each citizen can help preserve such irreplaceable sites.
After all, according to the Fundamental Duties enshrined in our Constitution, it is our joint responsibility to safeguard and preserve our country's cultural heritage.
