Ranchi: Rajesh has secured Rank 271 in the recently declared Jharkhand Civil Services Examination 2023, conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).
Rajesh lost his father in 2017, shortly after passing his Class 12 exams. With his family facing dire financial hardship, he worked at a private school to complete his graduation in Hazaribagh. Later, during the COVID-19 lockdown, he moved to Ranchi, juggling delivery jobs while nurturing his civil services ambition.
“The lodge I stayed in was full of students preparing for competitive exams. That environment reignited my desire to study,” he recalled.
Despite limited resources, Rajesh began preparing for the JPSC exam. In his first attempt, he cleared the prelims but narrowly missed qualifying in the Mains. Undeterred, and with the encouragement of his family, he attempted again—this time successfully securing a position.
Rajesh has been allotted Jail Services but plans to attempt the exam again for a better rank. He credits his inspiration to a person from a neighbouring village who had once cleared the JPSC and joined the police services. “The respect he received made me want the same for myself,” Rajesh shared.
His mother, Janki Devi, who works as a cook at a government school, expressed her pride and joy. “He succeeded without his father's support. It's his hard work and God’s grace.”
Rajesh had earlier cleared the JSSC-CGL exam as well, though the result remains pending in court. His journey, marked by resilience and relentless effort, has become a beacon of hope for countless aspirants across Jharkhand and beyond.
