Victim’s taunts over physique led to deadly altercation, say police
Gurugram: A 20-year-old man in Gurugram was brutally murdered by two of his friends and his body hidden in a school washroom, allegedly after repeated incidents of body shaming. The grim discovery was made earlier this week when a teacher noticed blood stains inside the school and traced them to a toilet, where Karn’s decomposed body was found. The police were notified immediately.
According to investigators, Akash and Shiv Kumar, both acquaintances of Karn, were arrested three days later. During questioning, they revealed that they had entered the school premises late on the night of 2–3 July — though the motive behind the break-in remains unclear.
Police say that during this time, Karn allegedly mocked the two again for their thin appearance. Enraged, one of the accused attacked him with a stone, while the other used a pair of scissors to stab him. The two then dragged the body into the school’s washroom and fled.
The decomposed state of the body made identification difficult at first. However, police later recovered the murder weapons — a stone and scissors — from the crime scene.
“We received the call on 4 August after a teacher followed blood stains,” a police official said. “Both accused are currently on police remand, and further details will be shared post-interrogation.”
The case has shocked local residents and raised concerns over security lapses in public institutions.
