‘Kanta Laga’ Fame Shefali Jariwala Passes Away at 42 After Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Shefali is survived by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and her family. Funeral services are expected to take place in Mumbai today.

MUMBAI: Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic appearance in the early 2000s hit music video “Kaanta Laga”, has passed away at the age of 42. According to reports, the actress suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at her residence on Friday night.

She was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai but was declared dead on arrival. The hospital staff confirmed the news and said, “Shefali had expired before she was brought in. Her husband and a few others accompanied the body.”

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police reached Shefali’s residence in Andheri late at night for an investigation. A forensic team was also present at the scene and conducted a thorough search of the house.

"Her body was found at her residence in the Andheri area. Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 am. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear," said Mumbai police.

Shefali rose to instant fame in 2002 with her bold and trendsetting dance performance in Kaanta Laga, which became a nationwide sensation. Often referred to as the “Kaanta Laga girl”, she later appeared in several music videos and reality shows, including Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye. Shefali is survived by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and her family. Funeral services are expected to take place in Mumbai today.
