GAURISAGAR: Dr Rinku Ranjan Borah, Sub Divisional Medical Officer (Ayur) of Gaurisagar Block Public Health Centre (BPHC) in Sivasagar district and a resident of Gaurisagar Nakatani Village, passed away on the night of Uruka due to cardiac arrest. He was 56.
The sudden demise of the popular doctor has dimmed the enthusiasm and joy of Bhugali Bihu in Gaurisagar and its adjacent areas. The news spread like a wildfire and people from various walks of life gathered at his residence. His last rites were performed near his residence on Tuesday in presence of a huge gathering.
Before cremation, a shraddhanjali function was held where a good numbers of organizations like Srimonta Sankardev Songha, Sivasagar District Committee, and its regional and branch committees, Sripuria Naamghar Samaj, Dikhowmukh Janajati High School, Dikhowmukh Milita Silpi Samaj, Borhamthuri Sanskritic Charcha Kendra, Dikhowmukh HS School, Triluchan Sanskritic Mancha, Gaurisagar, Adhayatmik Yuva Sanmilan, Assam, Gaurisagar Press Club, Amguri Bandhoi, BJP Gaurisagar, and Rongpur Mondal Committes, Maharati Sanskritic Charcha Kendra, Dikhowmukh Press Club, Srimonta Sankardev Kala Krishti Kendra, Dikhowmukh College, Santipur High School, Dicial Gaon Unnayan Samiti, Srimonta Foundation, Assam, Gandhiji Sipukhuri ME School, and Jakaichuk Mouza Konch Rajbongshi Sanmilan paid floral tributes to him.
Late Dr Rinku Ranjan Borah was popular amongst the public for his simplicity and amicable behaviour. He had also served as District Nodal Officer (AYUSH) in Sivasagar. Besides, he was actively associated with various organizations. He is survived by his mother, wife (social activist) Nilakshi Neog, two daughters - Dr Gargi Kaustav and cultural activist Gaurangi Kaustav, two brothers, and other relatives.
