
JAIPUR: In a powerful display of India's spiritual unity, Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of Minority Affairs, presented a 'Chadar' at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. This year marks the 11th consecutive occasion that Prime Minister Modi has participated in this revered tradition, underscoring his profound respect for India's rich spiritual diversity and the principles of peace and unity. Rijiju, speaking in Jaipur before heading to Ajmer, highlighted the cultural and religious significance of this longstanding practice.
Rijiju emphasized that presenting the 'Chadar' at the dargah of 'Gareeb Nawaz' is a cherished tradition, and his visit aimed to convey a message of unity and brotherhood. He also mentioned visiting the dargah of 'Hazrat Nizamuddin' in Delhi the day before to offer another 'Chadar.' The minister highlighted that this practice reflects India's diversity and unity, as people from all communities unite to pray for peace.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by millions of pilgrims visiting the dargah during the Urs, Rijiju assured that steps are being taken to improve the pilgrimage experience. He shared that the government is introducing new initiatives to make the journey smoother for devotees. This annual 'Chadar' offering by PM Modi, combined with the Ministry’s efforts to enhance facilities, strengthens India’s commitment to religious tolerance, brotherhood, and national unity.
