Mayawati Attacks PM Modi Over Toilets Without Doors & Water Remark

Guwahati: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remark that the opposition leaders mocked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s focus on constructing toilets saying that the toilets built his government was either lying incomplete or not equipped with doors or water.

Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday, Narendra Modi said that the speeches of alliance party leaders’ begin with toilet and end with the same. Modi said, “I have attended most of the rallies with Akhilesh Yadav and he hasn’t any such thing to say. He only spoke about toilets which are lying incomplete and don’t have doors and water supply.”

Akhilesh Yadav said that there is a need for toilets which have water and doors to which Mayawati said that the PM tried to mislead the people in an attempt to cover up his failures.

The BSP chief said that the BJP should inform Modi that no other politician can look after women in the villages the way she did. She further stated that during the rule of the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh, she developed several villages under Dr. Ambedkar Gram Vikas Scheme. She reiterated that under her government, it has ensured the construction of the toilets equipped with all facilities in the villages.

The BSP chief also added that during the BSP rule, her government ensured the construction of more toilets as compared to the Modi-led government.

Addressing an election rally at Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday last, Narendra Modi cited a recent scuffle between the SP and BSP workers saying that SP-BSP leaders make deals in the comfort of their AC rooms in Lucknow and this is the reason why they have lost touch with the ground reality. Now that the parties know that they are going to lose the elections, their party workers are pulling each other’s collar.
