MEERUT: A gruesome murder case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, in which 35-year-old merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput was brutally murdered by his estranged wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla, alias Mohit. The heinous crime was committed on March 4, just a day after Rajput had returned to India from London to celebrate his daughter's sixth birthday on February 28.

Rajput was reported missing on March 4, prompting concerns from family and friends. The police found his decomposed body in a rented apartment after a tip-off about a rotten smell emanating from the building nearly 15 days after he went missing. From the investigation, it was established that the accused had chopped Rajput's body into pieces, 15 in number, and placed them in a water drum with cement to accelerate decomposition.

The suspects tried to mislead the authorities by uploading photos on Rajput's social media pages using his mobile phone, said Meerut SP (City) Ayush Vikram Singh. They even went to Manali in a bid to avoid suspicion.

This horrific crime has shocked the community, and concerns have been raised regarding domestic violence and the extent to which people will go in order to commit such atrocities. The authorities are working hard to collect more evidence and deliver justice for the victim.
