

NEW DELHI: In an effort to enhance rural infrastructure and promote economic development, the Ministry of Rural Development has approved several significant projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III) for the states of Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
For Manipur, the government has approved the construction of 41 roads covering a total length of 280.97 kilometers at an estimated investment of Rs. 225.15 crore. This comes after an earlier approval of 56 roads for a total of 502.24 kilometers and an investment of Rs. 404.72 crore under the same scheme.
In Mizoram, seven Long Span Bridges (LSBs) measuring 373.46 meters have been approved with an investment of Rs. 67.69 crore. Also, 17 roads aggregating to 487.50 kilometers were sanctioned earlier for Rs. 562.70 crore.
Himachal Pradesh will witness the construction of 21 LSBs, with a total length of 970.772 meters, at an investment of Rs. 140.90 crore. Earlier, 299 roads and 43 LSBs with a total investment of Rs. 3,345.82 crore were sanctioned.
Uttarakhand has been sanctioned funds for nine LSBs of 246 meters, with an estimated investment of Rs. 40.77 crore, along with 212 roads of 2,287.95 kilometers and nine LSBs already sanctioned for Rs. 1,865.34 crore.
These projects are intended to enhance access to basic services, increase connectivity, spur local economies, and complement the vision of the government for a developed India. The projects are likely to bring about a transformative change in the regions concerned.
