Former Indian cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s decision to join Indian Army and undergo strict training is not unknown to the world now. However, what is new is seeing him undergoing the army training at the army camps and the former ‘captain cool’ in his new Army avatar is the most trending topic in the country now.

The official report stated by the Indian Army's Territorial Army (TA) regiment states that Dhoni will be serving in the Kashmir valley as a part of the Victor Force and will remain in duty till August 15.

An army officer stated, “Dhoni’s 15-day duty period with his unit 106 TA Battalion (Para) begins today.”

Dhoni, has been appointed in the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment (106 Para TA battalion) in addition to his responsibilities towards the Indian cricket team. This honour was being provided to the cricketer back in 2011 only when two other sportspeople, namely Abhinav Bindra and Deepak Rao were also bestowed with the same honour by the Indian Army.

The proficient wicket-keeper behind the stamps has also proved it in the course of time that he is a proficient and equally passionate army man as well by earning paratroop qualification in 2015. This is to be noted here that Dhoni has successfully completed five parachute training jumps from Indian Army aircrafts while undergoing training in the Agra training camp.

At a time when the cricket fans and followers doubted a probable retirement plan by the former Indian skipper, this new form and look of the Ranchi man has impressed and inspired the youths of the nation to take up the Indian Army as a profession. With this move, Dhoni has proved it once again that one only needs to be passionate and confident of his professions and he can overcome any hurdle coming his way, whether it is in cricket or about serving the nation as an army man.
