
KOHIMA: The Nagaland Government is preparing a revised job reservation policy, after the move received the state cabinet's nod.
This was what Chief Minister Neiphu Rio said, while replying to a question in the state Assembly on Tuesday.
According to Rio, the Cabinet agreed to add some areas and tribes in the revised job reservation policy.
The Chief Minister further informed the House that the Centre's 4-lane road project announced in 2003 was still was yet to be complete. He attributed the delay to the land acquisition issue and demand for high compensation from landowners.
Other issues include adverse weather conditions, landslides, disturbance by locals residents and COVID 19 pandemic, said Rio adding that Kohima bypass road was also bound to fail as land had not been given to National Highways and Infrastructure Development Ltd (NHIDCL).
NPF MLA Nienu raised the issue of exploration of petroleum in the state. He stressed an urgent need to resume the exploration of petroleum. He observed that petroleum was never considered to be staple source of energy in view of climate change and that the world was shifting towards a sustainable and renewable energy.
Then he strongly advocated a slew of concrete steps to resume the oil and gas exploration and production in the state before it loses its utility.
Chief Minister Rio laid annual reports, rules and regulations of six departments. His deputy Y Patton submitted the Private Security Agencies (Nagaland) Rules, 2022 and Private Security Agencies (Private Security to Cash Transportation Activities) Nagaland Rules, 2022.
Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi gave his final assent to 3 bills namely Nagaland Appropriation Bill No. 1 (Supplementary Demand for Grants) for the year 2021-2022, Nagaland Appropriation Bill No. 2 (Demand for Grants) for the year 2022-2023 and Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2022. The House will be adjourned 'sine die' on Thursday.
