Naya Pakistan Should Show Action Against Terror Groups: Raveesh Kumar

Guwahati: The Pakistan Government's term 'Naya Pakistan' should show it in terms of action against terror groups, said Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar.

While addressing the media, Kumar said that Pakistan has failed to take any credible action against the Jaish-e-Mohammad and other terror organizations operating from its soil.

Kumar stated that it is regrettable that Pakistan still continues to deny Jaish-e-Mohammad's claim of taking ownership of February 14 Pulwama attack. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the JeM have not claimed responsibility of the attack to Kumar asked 'Is there any confusion or is Pakistan defending the JeM terror group?'

The Spokesperson further dismissed Pakistan's claim that its force downed two aircraft of the Indian Air Force adding that only one aircraft was lost by India and that Pakistan is spreading false propaganda. Kumar said, "If Pakistan has a video recording of shooting down two aircraft of the IAF then why they have not shared the evidence with the international media."

On asked about Pakistan's refusal to admit that Pakistan Air Force lost one F-16 fighter jet when it attempted to target military facility in India, Kumar said that there is evidence to show that IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman shot down their aircraft.

Kumar further stated that there are eyewitness accounts and electronic evidence that Pakistan deployed F-16 aircraft and that one F-16 was shot down by the Wing Commander. He said that the government has also asked to examine whether the use of F-16 against India is in accordance with terms and conditions of sale.

The Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs has given the statement a day after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said that his government would not allow the country's soil to be used for terror purposes against any country.

It was after every terror attack be it the Parliament Attack in 2001, in Mumbai 2008 that Pakistan's same script of taking action against terror group is playing and now after the Pulwama attack also, they said that they will take action against the terror group including Jem. Kumar also said that Pakistan has to show credible, verifiable and sustainable action against terrorist outfits.

Kumar also stated that If Pakistan claims to be a Naya Pakistan with Nayi Soch then it should demonstrate Naya Action against terror groups and cross border terrorism in support of its claims.

He further said that Pakistan will be judged not by the words they speak but the actions they take and besides issuing notifications in the gazette they have to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.
