

Guwahati: Delhi Chief Minister and National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that the Congress President Rahul Gandhi has refused the alliance with AAP and that there were no talks between the two party for any alliance for the seats of Lok Sabha polls which is going to be held from April 11.
Kejriwal said that there is nothing on the alliance and earlier AAP held a meeting with Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi where he refused to tie up with the AAP.
Kejriwal has confirmed the non-alliance with the Congress days after the Delhi Congress in-charge PC Chacko said that both the parties would come together to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Earlier, former Chief Minister of Delhi and state Congress President Sheila Dikshit along with other leaders of the party held a meeting with Party Chief Rahul Gandhi and discussed the possibility of an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to a report, the AICC in-charge of Delhi Congress PC Chacko handed over signed letters of 12 district Congress Presidents, leaders of the party and councilors in three municipal corporations in favour of the alliance to Rahul Gandhi.
According to sources, everyone in the meeting wants that the party chief should take a final call on it in the larger interests of the party.
Moreover, Kejriwal said that they haven't approached the Congress for any alliance which Delhi Congress President Sheila Dikshit has told earlier. He also said that if they would have approached the Congress President for alliance then there is no necessity of talking the same with any other party leaders.
Kejriwal clarified the issue at the Visakhapatnam airport while leaving for Delhi after attending a rally on the invitation of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu along with West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee.
It was earlier reported that four former Delhi Congress Presidents namely Ajay Maken, Subhash Chopra, Tajdar Babar and Arvinder Singh Lovely favoured an alliance with AAP in Delhi.
Moreover, Delhi Congress President Dikshit and three working presidents Devender Yadav, Rajesh Lilothia and Haroon Yusuf maintained their stand against alliance.
