NTA Postpones UGC-NET Exam Scheduled for January 15

The UGC NET December 2025 examination which was scheduled for January 15 has been postponed by the NTA. An official notice in this regard has been published on UGC NET's official website.

New Delhi: The UGC NET December 2025 examination which was scheduled for January 15 has been postponed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). An official notice in this regard has been published on UGC NET's official website.

Following multiple requests by aspirants to not hold the exam during the harvest festival season across the country such as Makar Sankranti , Pongal, and other regional festivals, the NTA has made the decision to postpone the examination scheduled on January 15. The NTA also added that the revised date would be announced later.

The official notice states, "The National Testing Agency has received representation to postpone the UGC-NET December 2024 examination on account of Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and other festivals on 15th January 2025. In the interest of aspirants, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to postpone the UGC-NET December scheduled on 15th January 2025 only. The new date of the exam will be announced later."

The subjects for which the examination was scheduled on January 15 are as follows:

Shift 1: Sanskit, Mass Communication and Journalism, Japanese, Performing Arts, Law, Nepali, Women Studies, Environmental Studies

Shift 2: Indian Knowledge System, Malayalam, Urdu, Labour Welfare, Electronic Science, Criminology, Tribal Literature, Folk Literature, Konkani

Earlier in December 2024, the Union Education Minister was urged by the DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi to reschedule the exams pointing out the insensitivity of the NTA towards Tamil Nadu's traditions by holding examinations during Pongal.
