New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set out on a three-city visit on Saturday to review the development work of COVID-19 vaccines. PM Modi first landed in Ahmedabad to visit the Zydus Cadila's plant to get information about their vaccine development.

Zydus Cadila's plant is situated in the Changodar industrial area, which is around 20 KM from Ahmedabad. The mentioned vaccine maker has announced that the phase-I clinical trial of its vaccine candidate ZyCoV-D was over. It has started the phase-II clinical trials of the vaccine from August.

After Ahmedabad, PM Modi flew to Hyderabad to review the Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine candidate. Bharat Biotech is working on Covaxin, which is India's first indigenous vaccine candidate for COVID-19. The Bharat Biotech's facility is located at Genome Valley, which is around 50 KM from Hyderabad. Modi was present in the facility for almost an hour.

PM Modi finally visited the Serum Institute of India, Pune. SII has partnered with the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and Oxford University for the COVID-19 vaccine.
