PARIS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris today to strengthen the partnership between India and France. The talks are expected to be centred around artificial intelligence (AI), defense ties, and trade, highlighting their growing cooperation.

The visit coincided with the AI Action Summit, where both leaders will explore AI’s role in public welfare and global innovation. PM Modi and President Macron will also co-chair the summit, furthering their shared vision for technological progress.

As a sign of robust Indo-French ties, the two leaders waved at each other and later shared a warm hug. President Macron hosted PM Modi for a state dinner at the Elysee Palace, where they held discussions on economic ties and strategic matters.

At dinner, PM Modi interacted with US Vice President JD Vance while President Macron was present. This was his first significant meeting with the Trump administration before his planned visit to Washington.

Meanwhile, PM Modi was welcomed with official honours when he arrived in France, showing how important his visit was. During his trip, he planned to talk about nuclear energy and AI progress. He will also open India’s first consulate in Marseille, helping to improve diplomatic relations.

The Indian community in Paris gave PM Modi a warm welcome with chants and cultural celebrations. Many people hoped for closer cultural connections, including setting up a cultural center in France.

PM Modi’s visit is expected to conclude with key agreements in AI, defence, and trade, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to deepen strategic collaboration and advance mutual interests.
